The mission of Southeast Missouri Pets  is to enrich the lives of families and communities by nurturing the special bond between people and pets, by providing a safe refuge for homeless pets, adoption services, medical care, resources, advocacy and education.

Southeast Missouri Pets is looking for a highly skilled executive director with Animal Welfare experience. Reporting to the board of directors, the executive director  oversees the strategic and operational efficiency of our programs and staff. This seasoned leader not only understands current trends in the animal rescue/adoption world, but has proven experience developing a fundraising plan and implementing it. Prior experience managing and hiring staff is essential, as well as established or being able to establish relationships with local community groups. Above all, he or she will be comfortable in a leadership role that demands clear communication and decisiveness.

  • Develop and or assist with development of an actionable plan for fundraising and managing monthly cash flow
  • Comply with Missouri Department of Agriculture and local regulations

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Create complete business/strategic  plans for the attainment of goals and objectives set working alongside the board of directors
  • In partnership with Development Director and  Board of Directors assist  to secure financial support
  • Work with Development Director, staff and board on  fundraising events,  oversee all external communications including website, marketing materials, newsletters and social media content
  • Establish and nurture relationship with the Development Director
  • Create community awareness and expand the program
  • Build and lead a team dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through successful programs , community engagement, and fundraising targets

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or finance preferred but not required.
  • 3-5+ years of senior management experience with an animal related nonprofit
  • Strong public relations, marketing, and fundraising experience
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles related to nonprofits
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
  • Proficient with computer, soft wares
  • Maintain good financial records and licensees

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing people and creating positive work culture
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills

Salary range:  $55,000/$60,000
